The vision of Sister Susan Frazer, RSM, for the transition of the St. John Bosco Boys Home into a Vocational Training Centre has reached a landmark with the completion of a new facility for tertiary-level skills training programme. The vision was made possible through the generosity of Digicel Foundation, a telecommunication company serving the Caribbean Region, and long-standing friends of Sister Frazer – Paul and Margo Hooker. With the transition and expansion, St. John Bosco Vocational Training Centre is also celebrating the inclusion of female students for the very first time.
As in the past, the focus is on offering skills training and employment opportunities to those who are transiting from high schools with various academic achievements and are from poor families.
Students are beaming with enthusiasm and energy for learning. The Mercy System, in addition to the newly developed facility, friendly academic teachers and training instructors, is laying the foundation in the hearts of these students to build on their academic excellence through faith formation, to be leaders, entrepreneurs and agents of social change.
