We are pleased to advise you that St. John Bosco Vocational Training Centre has partnered with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information to offer a new groundbreaking partnership initiative – the Sixth Form Integration Pathway Programme.

We are an approved City and Guilds Centre in respect of all of the courses referred under the Sixth Form Programme. In addition, we offer City & Guilds certificates in Mathematics & English Stages 1, 2, 3 and level 1 and 2 awards Customer Service.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI) implemented the K – 13 strategy in an effort to ensure that all Jamaican students have access to education from the early childhood to secondary levels of the education system. 

OUR PROGRAMME

St. John Bosco Vocational Training Centre has been providing vocational training and apprenticeship in the culinary arts, butchering, animal husbandry, and barbering for over thirty years. It is our mission to expand our students’ skillset through work integrated learning to allow them to practice the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom. Our holistic learning approach includes personal development training to improve the life skills of our graduates; helping them to achieve their qualifications, enhance their employability, and motivate their entrepreneurial pursuits.

ST. JOHN BOSCO CERTIFIED COURSES

MEAT CUTTING & PROCESSING

This progamme allows students to explore every aspect of meat processing under the expert guidance of our professional tutors. This curriculum includes practical skills in meat cutting and processing using a wide range of equipment e.g. electrical band saw, meat grinder & scales, and health & sanitation.
Duration: 2 years

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

Animal Husbandry is an introductory course to swine and broiler science that will train students in the basics of pork and chicken production. The curriculum covers statistical data, reproduction protocols, biosecurity, application of medications, containment of diseased animals, modes for feeding livestock correctly based on the animals’ digestion, & the nutrient density of the various types of feed.
Duration: 2 years

FARMING & GREENHOUSE TECHNOLOGY

Students will have the opportunity to learn the principles and practices of greenhouse crop production. Students will be engaged in theoretical and practical to support an integrated approach to learning biosecurity & disease transmission, soil fertility & plant nutrition, irrigation management, integrated pest management & post-harvest production.
